About Us

In the early Summer of 2014, we were struggling to put together a family vacation for our family of five.  We had three boys (ages 17, 13 and 7).  Trying to entertain that diverse group is a struggle, then came the cost of airfare and hotel for a group of five.  After lots of research, we decided to take a road trip adventure.  We found a local company and rented a Class A RV.  Our trip was 7 days and we travelled through 4 different states and stayed in 3 different RV parks. With the exception of a few small hiccups, the trip was a success.

We learned a few things on that trip, but the most important was that we LOVED RVing.  Within days of returning, we started a wish list of what we wanted in our own RV.  We looked, we talked, we looked some more.  We had requirements, we had wants, we had absolutely nots.  We planned to purchase our coach by March 2016.

In June 2015, we stumbled on a coach that included a tow vehicle (a requirement) at a very reasonable price.  It was in great condition, but of course, it didn’t include all the items that we drooled over.  There were definitely compromises from our dream coach, but it was a good fit in a lot of ways, so we took the plunge.  The days before taking ownership were filled with anticipation and excitement.

We picked up our coach on a Wednesday and had reservations at an RV park near our home for Thursday night.  Just a simple trial run to figure out how everything worked.  It would be fun!  EVERYTHING went wrong!  Our generator wouldn’t stay running, the dash air wasn’t cold, the monitor on the back up camera went out.  We got stuck in traffic in our mobile oven with no A/C in July in Texas.  When we arrived at our storage facility to park it we were drowned in sweat and frustration.  The trip home wasn’t much different. Hot and frustrating.  Even parking it in the storage unit was a disaster and it took us 90 minutes to finally get it parked.  We were instantly afraid that we had made a terrible, expensive mistake.

Needless to say, we resolved our issues (most of the solutions will be posted under the Mods, Maintenance & Making It Yours section) and now look forward to our weekend trips, no matter where we are going.

We want to share our experiences with our RV and the RV parks that are located close enough to Houston for a weekend trip and far enough from town to feel like a vacation!

UPDATE:

We recently upgraded our coach to a Diesel Pusher!! Guess you never know where this lifestyle will take you!

And still, Happiness is 50 amp and a level site!
